Kickball

Recently discovered this amazing piece of work by Dana-T, called “Kickball”

Such a beautiful sketchy style of animation, with so much character and movement. On top of that, the story is fantastic!

Very impressive 3rd year film. 2D animation is still very much alive!

Ozanimate

Wanted to put the spotlight on an awesome group called Ozanimate.

Started by some good talented friends of mine, It’s a great place to look up cool highlights in the animation world, animators themselves, companies, and general animation goodness.

Please check it out! Viva la animation!!

The Avengers: Should you see it?

Short answer? YES

Recently saw the movie out in Australia (which is due for release May 4th in the U.S.), and oh wow is it absolutely amazing.

Where do I start? Well, where do I start without spoiling anything.

For starters, the visual effects and design is pretty amazing. Not only do you get an action packed extravaganza that Hollywood offers these days, but you still get a nice blend of modern realism meets comic book nostalgia. The action is over the top, but you enjoy every moment of it (and still understand what’s going on!) The costumes are pretty amazing, and mixed with some brilliant stunts, you’d almost swear the comic book characters themselves had taken on physical form!

And speaking of characters, they were done amazingly well. Iron Man feels like Iron Man, the Hulk feels like the Hulk, Thor is Thor and so on. Credits to the writers, actors, director and everyone else involved who took the time to flesh out these beings so not only can you watch them kick total butt and believe it, but you can sympathise with them. While I imagine a bigger fan could spot details that needed more fleshing out, I myself enjoyed them thoroughly, and really look forward to the next installment that Marvel brings out.

If you haven’t seen it yet, please do. It’s well worth it.
